Answered Prayer!
"What did you ask for?
Devotional Pastor Gary
Title: "What did you ask for?"
TITLE: "Did you get what you ask for?" 2020 has certainly not been one of our better years. We all had plans that had to be cancelled. Vacations that were put on hold. Shutdowns that seemed scary. It seemed as though disappointment was around every turn. Many, because of COVID-19, missed once in a lifetime events and gatherings. Sadly many died alone without one single person from their family at their side. Others suffered physically and mentally. Some may not have gotten what they asked for - for Christmas. In fact, in the middle of such scary chaos - it's hard to ask for anything. Who really cares or understands and who do we ask? This Bible verse has always meant a lot to me: Eph 3:20 "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ASK or imagine..." Does it really make sense to pray? I believe it does. In his book "Angels", Billy Graham recounts a story in the early 1900's of a missionary in China named Marie Monsen. Miss Monsen stayed at a mission compound with hundreds of women and children. One night, they found themselves surrounded by bandits who threatened the possibility of a dangerous and even deadly attack. Miss Monsen, though tempted with fear by Satan, stood on the promises of God and prayed for their protection. Throughout the night she continued to minister and encourage the frightened women and children to trust in God's deliverance. Although terrible things happened all around them that night, the compound was left unharmed. The following morning, three different nearby families stated they witnessed four people in shining clothes with bright swords quietly standing on the roof of the compound all night. They inquired of Miss Monsen who these persons were, but Miss Monsen replied "there was no one on the roof". Obviously, God had heard and answered prayer . They had asked for protection, and God provided it, He sent Angels. Please don't be afraid to pray - to ask God for anything. He might just answer.
