I had the privilege of knowing a man from eastern Kentucky.
For now we will call him Bob.
He had led a very rough life. He was in and out of trouble during
his young adult life.
His worst vice perhaps was his constant excessive drinking.
One day this man that most thought could not never rise above
his vices - came to know Christ as his Savior. His life changed immediately.
Soon after - Bob started preaching - and not only started a Church
congregation but built a Church building after overcoming a lot of
objections from a local airport.
Bob’s Church began to grow and he actually had two radio broadcasts.
His Sunday morning service was presented live every week.
NOW THIS WILL SURPRISE YOU - Bob could neither read nor write.
But God changed his heart and he saw no obstacles to preach-
ing the gospel of Christ. What a testimony of what God can do and
who he can use - if we are just willing!
God says plainly to those who may feel incapable or inadequate in I Corinthians 1:27 "But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty”
God seems to look at our life’s resume differently than what we might call conventional in this life. He notes to us in Isaiah 1:19 "If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land”
May we march forward clothed with His presence and focused on His purpose not on our weaknesses or limitations.
